(I made this post in 2006. Sorry Red Sox fans…)

Matsuzaka will do a good job in the U.S. As one of the best pitchers in Japan, Daisuke Matsuzaka will go to the U.S. next year.

Which team in MLB will take him is the main topic in Japanese sports media these days.He has been in a center of attention in Japanese sports world since he performed sensational pitching in the Japanese high school baseball tournament. In the final, he threw a no-hitter!

After graduatiing from his highschool, he joined Seibu Lions in the 1998 draft.Since then, he has been one of the best pitchers in Japan. However, sometimes the media called him “not good at big games” due to his rather-poor performances in Olympics.

In my opinion, not anymore.Although Seibu Lions could not get the championship in Japanese baseball league,he has made good pitches during this season.Furthermore, he won MVP of the first World Baseball Classic.

English? No problem! His wife, Tomoyo Matsuzaka, a former anchorwoman, has no problem in English communication. So she can make life in the U.S. more comfortable and easier for him.

“Matsuzaka fever” may go too much and he may feel pressure both from Japan and America. But with his wife’s help, he will make good performances in the the birthplace of baseball.
