Right brain is activated by music,art,emotion,and feelings.
Left brain is activated by words, calculation, and analysis.
Maybe Jpn people prefer words to melody when they listen to enka
But I have read an newspaper article which says Japanese people listen to Enka by left brain though the Japanese also listens to the classical music by a right brain.
Enka is Japanese traditional style ballad.
For me, enka is very ( maybe most ) emotional compared to other genre of Japanese songs. So I do not understand why enka stimulates the left part of brain.
But possible explanation is this: Japanese people mainly listen to the words ( lyrics ) of enka, not the melody. Therefore left brain is activated.
I wonder which part of brain of non-Japansese people get activated when they listen to enka.
Maybe it depends on how well they understand Japanese.
